Villa Tauro - Pullir di Cesiomaggiore

Given the indication of two different starting points and a common ending point (the Danube river), some authors have presumed only one via Claudia Augusta running from the Danube through the Venosta and Adige valleys, leading off Trento in two different directions, one towards the Po river, the other through the Sugana valley and Feltre down to Altino (FRACARRO, FRANZONI, ALPAGO NOVELLO), as well as two Via Claudia Augusta presenting two completely different itineraries: one from the Po to the Resia Pass along the Adige valley, the other from Altino passing by Feltre up to the Mount Croce Comelico, the Pusteria valley, to reach the Brennero . According to BOSIO's theory, instead, the road winds along one itinerary only from Altino to the Danube, highlighting Altino as western starting point mentioned only in the milestone at Cesiomaggiore.

Most authors identify the Claudia Augusta itinerary in the stretch which starts from Altino, passing by Callalta, Vascon and Lovadina up to Priula Bridge at Mercatelli, on the left side of the Piave river, to meet again the stretch coming from Oderzo and leading towards Trento. Some authors have proposed different alternative routes, all originating from Mercatelli.

According to DE BON, the road leads towards Falzè di Piave, then Vidor bridge, crossing the Piave and on the right side of the river continuing towards Quero, Feltre, Cesiomaggiore and Belluno.

PILLA too proposes a route leading from Mercatelli to the left side of the Piave river, although on a different route going through Valdobbiadene, Guia, Guietta, Federa valley up to Stabie.

ALPAGO NOVELLO rejects the hypothesis of the way through the Piave valley and indicates its itinerary through the Praderadego pass, the Belluna valley, crossing the Piave river and continuing from here towards Cesiomaggiore and Feltre.

RACARRO's theory is similar to Alpago Novello's although indicating its way through the S.Boldo pass. Some aspects of Fracarro's and Alpago Novello's hypotheses have been rejected as both itineraries present a difficult practicability, due to the peculiar morphological features of both passes, as well as to lack of archaeological evidence supporting such hypotheses
