Restoration of the façades in the old town centre.

eltre was quickly rebuilt after the fire damages occurred in 1510, which nearly razed the town to the ground. As a consequence, the urban structure of the old town centre is rather homogeneous and mostly dates back to the same period. Its main feature consists of frescoes or other painting techniques on most façades, which has contributed to increase through a chromatic impact the aesthetic value of the old town centre. However, the outdated execution has determined a progressive decay of the decorated surfaces, even speeding up in the recent years, due to smog and other polluting agents.

meeting with the involved parties was held in 1997, during which the participants expressed their interest for a restoration action. Arch Sergio Casagrande was given the task to prepare all the necessary documentation. The aim consisted in the restoration of frescoes, paintings and other decorations on the façades of the buildings located in the main streets of the old town centre.
