ROUTE 3-A - Excursion on the Feltrino valley in pursuit of the past heritage 55 km easy,
SLOPES (4 - 5% )
ITINERARY : From Feltre's centre it follows the sign for the hospital, then towards Foen - Villa-Bruna - Salgarda (a slight slope 4-5% starts here ) - Cesiomaggiore. Downhill to S.Giustina, continue to Colvago - Calibago - Meano - Bribano (heavy traffic, narrow way before Bribano !) From here follow the sign for Trichiana. After about 2 km on the National road, turn right towards Farra, Pagogna. The hilly road leads us to the centre of Mel. Continue to Nave - Lentiai - Busche. Past a level crossing turn left towards Nemeggio - Villapaiera-Cellarda. Return to Feltre through Anzu. This stretch presents no difficulties. Along the way you can enjoy the romantic and wild Piave river as well as the mountains. Churches, villas and castles are surely worth a visit.

he Via Claudia may have reached Cesiominore and passed south of Cesiomaggiore towards Marciai, a crossroads between the Claudia Augusta and a Roman commercial route. From here through Formegan and Campo towards Nave. In this area several Roman findings were brought to light (tombs, coins). The way towards Nave (the toponym indicates the presence of a pontoon bridge to cross the Piave river !!) continues towards Tiago, S.Donato and the Zumelle Castle. According to Alpago Novello, Cesiomaggiore was the most important town along the Via Claudia. The place was inhabited already in the Roman age. Pagina 36 The town centre features the church of S.Maria Assunta , where a milestone belonging to the Via Claudia was found. Used in 1786 to bear an altar, belongs today to a private collection at Villa Tauro delle Centenere.
